Sweet Tea & Lollipops: Quincy Elf

Meeting Quincy -
We heard rumors about elves that come to visit good children. The rumor was that good little elves sometimes get all their work done early and are allowed to take vacations from the North Pole. Taft and wrote a little to Santa and waited. We waited and waited for an elf to arrive. Everyday we got updates from other children and their elves. It just made us want an elf even more.

Finally we got a call from Mawmaw and Pawpaw saying that an elf named Quincy had shown up at their house. Apparently he had gotten the wrong address on his ticket and went to my childhood home by mistake. It was very close to Christmas and we thought we would miss out this year. Elves have to be ready to go back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve when Santa picks them up.

Mawmaw and Pawpaw decided to jump in the car and drive Quincy the 500 miles to the correct address. Here they are with Taft going out to eat to celebrate Quincy's arrival.

Taft was very happy to meet Quincy. Our sweet little elf apologised for not being able to bring the advent gifts that he had planned. We told Quincy it was fine. We were just happy that he was with us and told him he could start gifts the next year. On Christmas Eve we sent him home with a little card to make sure that he had the correct address for 2009. He did and we had a great December of fun! Now we can't wait to see what he does in the coming years.

Our Tradition -

Our tradition with Quincy is pretty simple. We use his visit as a countdown, or advent, for the month of December. He arrives the night of November 30th to have Taft a gift to find on the morning of December 1st.

Each day we look for Quincy and find our little surprise. Mostly, he bring smalls things such as candy, cookies, or coloring books. Other days he may bring a Christmas themed video or holiday PJ's.
